Duties of a son, from The Story of Aqhat: To erect a stele for his ancestral gods; to build a family shrine in the sanctuary; to guard his footsteps from earth to underworld; to take his hand when he is drunk; to put his arm over one's shoulder when he is full of wine; to eat a funeral meal in the temple of Ba'al; to offer a sacrifice in the house of El.

Color me appalled! You just say these things to vex me don't you...
;-)
Readers, I've received an email from someone who should know that helpfully traces the origins of the U2charist back farther than the reference to Maine in this video clip. I have asked if I may post this information here in my blog, and am hopeful that I will receive permission. ---SLC
Steve,
This is most refreshing! Thanks for highlighting this excellent clip. Keep up the good work!
Best Wishes
Joe
Hey, Stephen -- sorry if I wasn't explicit and clear earlier. You absolutely have my permission to talk about the origins of the U2charist in Baltimore and how it spread from there to Maine and beyond, and I've actually finally put down my guitar and my laptop long enough to put up a web page on the subject, and with gathered wisdom for those thinking about hosting or how they might learn from the U2charist. The U2charist resources page is more general, and the U2charist FAQ has the answers to frewntly asked questions about the U2charist, including about its origins (which -- as you're absolutely right to point out -- go back almost two years and dozens of congregations, including one keynote U2charist at a diocesan clergy conference in 2004, before hitting Maine.
Feel free to give me a shout if there's any way I can be of help, with information or anything else.
Blessings,
Dylan
Hi Dylan,
Thanks so much for these new comments. These new links will be very helpful. In fact, I shall try to elevate them up into a new blog entry as soon as I get a chance. Thanks so much, ----S.
